A Long Week

A Long Week

I came 16 hours from North Carolina to Indiana and then we continued driving to Wisconsin.  You might say, why to Wisconsin?  So that I can spend a week with all of my cousins.  When I was in Wisconsin, I played basketball, spent the 4th of July watching the parade and fireworks, played soccer and I went to Slinger Motor Speedway.  After a week in Wisconsin, we went back to Indiana to race go-karts at South Bend Raceway Park.

At South Bend there were three days of racing.  It was amazingly hot!  The air temperature was 107 and the asphalt was 140 degrees.  The first day I had to practice five times.  The last practice was the best because all of the other practices I either spun out or my engine stopped.

The second and third day are race days where you practice, qualify, race your pre-final, and then race the final.  The first race day I finished 14th out of 27 karts.  The second day I finished 18 out out of 27.

On the second race day after the hard races, we packed up, said our goodbyes, and hit the road.  We drove about four and a half hours then stopped at a hotel and slept.  The next morning we drove another five hours and then we were home.
